I didn't enjoy the book as much as you did, although I liked the history of trees, you know, the political tree, the romantic tree, etc.~~DeeThe Divahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13640870056010190961noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24660431.post-11257537032537005062008-03-31T09:47:00.000-04:002008-03-31T09:47:00.000-04:00I'll have to check out this book next time I'm in ...I'll have to check out this book next time I'm in the book store. Since my yard needs so much work at the moment I normally head to the gardening how-to books. I picked up one this weekend from creative homeowner that seems to be a good primer although it doesn't go into as much design tips as I would like. Trial and error I suppose. This was a thoughtful, yet entertaining book. I have read later Pollan books and finds that he writes in the same engaging style. His latest, 'In Defense of Food' is one of the best books I've read in a long while.kate smudgeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10564410520744285676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24660431.post-33203381583965696762008-03-28T12:54:00.000-04:002008-03-28T12:54:00.000-04:00I like the chapter you highlighted especially. I'm working on a memoir that is about gardening with my mom growing up, creating my first garden, and looking at garden history, design, environmental ideas, various religious viewpoints of nature--and so this chapter from his book is something I've used in my writing. Not an interesting comment here, I suppose.Benjamin Vogthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10661489036836711335noreply@blogger.com
